THE CHALLENGES
Cheesmans’ IT systems were fragmented. Their practice management system was on a cloud server, but other systems were running on outdated office-based servers. This fragmentation necessitated modernisation. However, Cheesmans felt they were not receiving the right advice about the upgrade path and were concerned about the adequacy of their cyber security measures.
The changes needed to be implemented within a tight timeframe to avoid disruption during the busy tax return season and year-end period. Additionally, there was a need to manage the impact on staff who were not accustomed to changes in IT system functionality.
THE APPROACH

The CCH accounting suite was migrated to Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop, ensuring seamless integration with other IT systems. Best-of-breed security solutions, including Mimecast Email Security, were deployed to secure confidential and sensitive client data.
THE RESULTS
Cheesmans now has an IT system that provides a consistent experience for staff, regardless of their location. Additionally, by removing on-premise server equipment, Cheesmans saved on the cost of replacing an end-of-life air conditioning unit used to cool the servers.
