As a working disabled mum, finding a job that accommodates my needs while allowing me to thrive professionally and personally has been a game-changer. Here’s a peek into my life at Pro Drive and how it’s made a difference.
The Perks of Part-Time
Working part-time at Pro Drive doesn’t mean missing out on the benefits that full-timers enjoy. I get to experience all the perks, including the fantastic 9-day fortnight. This unique schedule gives me an extra day off every two weeks (prorated to the hours I work), which I use to volunteer at my child’s school as Vice Chair of the PTA. Whether its organizing discos, planning colour runs, or preparing Christmas hampers and Easter egg hunts, I love being involved in these fun activities.
Flexibility at Its Best
One of the standout features of working at Pro Drive is the flexible working arrangements. Being able to work from home is a huge benefit, especially when managing fatigue or when I am less mobile. This flexibility ensures that I can still be an active and productive member of the team, despite my disability. It’s empowering to know that my contributions are valued and that I can balance my health needs with my professional responsibilities.
With the ability to work from home, I can easily incorporate the school run into my day without taking too much time out. This means I can drop off and pick up my child, attend school events, and still manage my work commitments effectively. Additionally, I can attend appointments more easily without being away from work for too long, ensuring I stay on top of both my health and my job.
A Supportive Environment
The culture at Pro Drive is incredibly supportive. My colleagues and managers understand the challenges I face and are always ready to offer a helping hand. This supportive environment makes it easier to navigate the demands of work and personal life. Plus, the camaraderie and team spirit here are second to none. We celebrate each other’s successes and support one another through challenges, making Pro Drive feel like a second family.
Making a Difference
Volunteering at the school PTA has been a rewarding experience. The extra time I have allows me to give back to the community and be actively involved in my child’s school life. Seeing the joy on the kids’ faces during events like discos and Easter egg hunts is priceless. It’s fulfilling to know that I’m making a positive impact, both at work and in my community.
The Balance of Give and Take
The level of flexibility at Pro Drive also means that I can comfortably log on during my non-working days if something urgent comes up. However, it’s reassuring to know that this is not expected of me. This balance of give and take fosters a culture of mutual respect and understanding. We all work together and respect each other’s commitments, both inside and outside of work. This collaborative environment ensures that everyone can contribute effectively while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
At the Forefront of IT and Development
Being at the forefront of IT and development at Pro Drive means I’m constantly gaining new skills and knowledge. This not only benefits me professionally but also enriches my personal life. My husband, after attending a Pro Drive webinar, was keen to introduce Copilot at his workplace and often advocates for the time saved by using it. My son also benefits from this exposure, using new and exciting programs and software to complete his homework and produce some amazing work.
Last year when our PTA looked to digitalise all of the admin and keep everything safe and secure in one accessible place it was Pro Drive I turned to for advice and assistance. They were able to help us apply for charity licenses with Microsoft, which also meant we were able to have virtual meetings as well as face to face. They also helped set up the filing system for this and make sure we were working for efficiency and smart.
So, the advantages of working at Pro Drive extend beyond business benefits, positively impacting my family and community as well.
Final Thoughts
Working at Pro Drive has been a transformative experience. Even my doctors agree it is important for me to be able to work to keep myself both physically and mentally active. The flexibility, support, and inclusive culture have enabled me to balance my career with my personal life effectively.
